7th Annual Beehive Banked Slalom 2026: Big Sky Community Snowboard Race

A Day for Snowboarding, Community, and Showing Up for Each Other

There’s something about snowboarding in the Gallatin Valley that goes deeper than the sport itself.

It’s the early mornings at the trailhead, the long hikes into zones like Beehive Basin, the shared effort of building something together, and the people you meet along the way. It’s a reminder that community doesn’t just happen—it’s built.

That’s what the Beehive Banked Slalom has always been about.

Now in its 7th year, this event brings together riders from across Bozeman, Big Sky, and the greater Gallatin Valley for a day that celebrates snowboarding not just as a sport, but as a support system.

At Juniper, this is exactly the kind of gathering we believe in.
The connection between people, place, and shared experience is what makes this valley special—and why we’re proud to sponsor both the event and this year’s Dig Camp for the second year in a row.

Last year, 92 riders showed up. This year, we’re building on that momentum.

WHO

The Beehive Banked Slalom is for the entire Gallatin Valley community. All ages and abilities are welcome— you’ll just need to be riding a snowboard to compete.

This year, we’re expanding the field with two new age categories:

• 18 & Under (New this year!)
• 40+ (New this year!)
• Men’s
• Women’s

Whether you’re lining up to race or hiking in to cheer, this event is about showing up and being part of something bigger.

WHAT

A free, community-built Banked Slalom race set in the natural terrain of Beehive Basin.

• Best of 2 runs format
• A course shaped by hand during the Juniper Cannabis sponsored “Dig Camp”
• A dedicated lap for the lost
• A day rooted in riding, connection, and showing up for each other

Snowboarding has always had its own culture—one that holds space for both progression and vulnerability.

As Kirby puts it:

“It can be tough—the live hard, ski hard mentality. You don’t have to be that person all the time. There’s no shame in being vulnerable with your friends and your family. When you're in that moment and someone reaches out, take that help. Have the conversation. It takes one text. Everyone here is loved and cared for. Everyone here is family.”

WHEN

Dig Camp Begins: Sunday, April 12th (9am at the parking lot)
Additional build days may run midweek through Saturday depending on conditions.

Race Day: Sunday, April 19th
Be at the trailhead by 8:30am
Racing kicks off around 10:00am and wraps around 6:00pm after prizes

WHY

Because snowboarding has always been more than just riding. It’s how people connect. It’s how we get through long winters and find meaning in the mountains. This event exists because of the belief that community matters.

At Juniper, that belief is at the core of everything we do. We’ve always aimed to be the Bozeman and Belgrade dispensary near you that is more than cannabis—a place rooted in connection, care, and the Gallatin Valley lifestyle. From Bozeman-grown, hand-cultivated flower to thoughtful details like more sustainable pre-roll packaging, every part of our process is shaped by intention and respect for the place we call home.

But for us, it doesn’t stop at with the cannabis we grow.

Whether it’s showing up for community clean-up days (Like our 2nd Annual Earth Day Clean-up Cruise), contributing to our local trails as a SWMMBA partner, or events like the Beehive Banked Slalom, we believe Montana cannabis can—and should—play a role in supporting something bigger. The same values that guide us in cultivation—patience, attention, and care—are the ones that guide how we show up for our mountain community.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about snowboarding. And it’s not just about cannabis. It’s about the people, the place, and the shared experience of being out here together.

Parking Details & Carpooling

Parking at Beehive Basin Trailhead is extremely limited. We do not recommend parking here. Please meet at the free skier parking lot at Big Sky Resort and carpool to the trailhead.
